ɛïɜ sunshine for your soul ɛïɜ

Turn up your speakers and feast your eyes, ears and soul on this abSOULute musical joy.

My husband and I were blessed in person when we saw Peter Gabriel and Back to Front crew in Virginia in 2012.

Peter Gabriel is my shaman and the spiritual facilitator of my healing journey through music. Peter is the only “famous”  person I would bend over backwards to meet in person, and to sing with, march with. He is an activist for peace and human rights, and inspired Nelson Mandela to form The Elders in 2007, a ngo forum of world activists and leaders who continue to share and learn from each other, and educate other world leaders about peaceful leadership.  Peter also founded Witness  a web-based video advocacy site, sharing injustices in the world to bring awareness and action around human rights violations around the world.

Peter Gabriel is someone I look up to. He uses his imagination and his art to inspire actions to change the world, oh and he is humble.  Peter is my hero.

This music video is part of a world-wide concert that will be shown in cinemas around the world on April 23rd, 2014. Will you join me in this experience from your beautiful corner of the world? (Get in touch with me privately and I’ll share how you can get tickets NOW before they go on sale.)

In the last half of the song  Youssou N’Dour (he is Senegal’s Michael Jackson) joins the stage and sings in a Senegal language called Wolof:
Sa bet chi lamp, chi tangaay, sa bet maangi ci biir

I always wondered what these words meant, as I’ve chanted them thousands of times since the album came out in 1986. A mantra which  feel blessed to finally know and share what we’ve been singing all these years. (Thank you web-based Peter Gabriel fans!)

Your eyes in lamp and heat, your eyes inside.

Now we know. Let’s sing it again!!!

Oh, and another personal note: this song means so much to me for another huge reason, it’s the song that played the first time I kissed my husband, nearly 19 years ago. WEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!  Magical and powerful song indeed. (While I love PG, I love my hubby MORE!!!!)

In Your Eyes lyrics, lyrics and music copyright Peter Gabriel
Youssou N’Dour translation at end

Love I get so lost, sometimes
Days pass and this emptiness fills my heart
When I want to run away
I drive off in my car
But whichever way I go
I come back to the place you are

All my instincts, they return
And the grand facade, so soon will burn
Without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

In your eyes
The light the heat
In your eyes
I am complete
In your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
In your eyes
The resolution of all the fruitless searches
In your eyes
I see the light and the heat
In your eyes
Oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light
The heat I see in your eyes

Love,  I don’t like to see so much pain
So much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away
I get so tired of working so hard for our survival
I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive

And all my instincts, they return
And the grand facade, so soon will burn
Without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

In your eyes
The light the heat
In your eyes
I am complete
In your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
In your eyes
The resolution of all the fruitless searches
In your eyes
I see the light and the heat
In your eyes
Oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light,
The heat I see in your eyes
In your eyes, in your eyes
In your eyes, in your eyes
In your eyes, in your eyes

Sa bet chi lamp, chi tangaay, sa bet maangi ci biir
Sa bet chi lamp, chi tangaay, sa bet maangi ci biir
Sa bet chi lamp, chi tangaay, sa bet maangi ci biir
(your eyes in lamp and heat, your eyes inside.)
