the joy of new muse, music … MaMuse ♫♪

Dear Earth Star,

One of my most favorite JOYs in life is to discover new-to-me-music that takes my breath away, and fills my mind, heart and soul AND TO SHARE IT!!!! Thankfully this happens quite a bit, as I work hard for the road less adventured for inspirational music. Indy labels, local musicians, less known singer/songer … the suggestions of of other musicians I adore…. seeking humans who live and breath their music. (perhaps music is my little addiction, you think?)

Tonight I’m so so very thankful to my new friend and choirista/singer/songwriter Kathleen Hannan for her sharing MaMuse with me. (Kathleen is another amazing and inspiring lyricist and musician who’s music cracks me open. I promise I’ll be sharing more about her with you soon.) For this moment, I HAD to stay up to share a few of the videos and songs I discovered from dynamic duo called MaMuse (Ma meaning “mama”, Muse as in “the one who inspires”–from their web site.). These two radiant beings literally appear to complete each others sentences, breathing and singing and harmoninzing different parts, but like one being–together. And I haven’t even commented on their lyricism … they are so profound. Get ready for BLISS.

wishing you, your ears and every cell of your awareness the JOY of music….

Hallelujah, written by Sarah Nutting & Karisha Longaker
Every time I feel this way
This, old familiar sinking
I will lay my troubles
Down by the water
Where the river
Will never run dry

Hallelujah Hallelujah (I’m gonna let myself be lifted, I’m gonna let myself be lifted)
Hallelujah (I’m gonna let myself be lifted)
Bye and bye
I will lay my troubles down by the water
Where the river will never run dry

It’s been said and I do believe
As you ask so shall you receive
So take from me these troubles
Bring me sweet release
Where the river will never run dry

Hallelujah Hallelujah (I’m gonna let myself be lifted, I’m gonna let myself be lifted)
Hallelujah (I’m gonna let myself be lifted)
Bye and bye
I will lay my troubles down by the water
Where the river will never run dry

There is a river
In this heart of hearts
With a knowingness
Of my highest good
I am willing
I will do my part
Where the river
Will never run dry

Hallelujah Hallelujah (I’m gonna let myself be lifted, I’m gonna let myself be lifted)
Hallelujah (I’m gonna let myself be lifted)
Bye and bye
I will lay my troubles down by the water
Where the river will never run dry

Where the river
Will never run dry
This river
Will never run dry

Natural Order of Things, lyrics written by: Karisha Longaker sung by MaMuse
All the little birdies in the trees
They wake up singin’ happy songs
The squirrels go up and down
They’re so busy runnin’ ’round
They seem to know that they belong
All the veggies in the garden
And the trees in the yard
They all grow in the same direction
And I never met a flower
Who’d deny the higher power
That was born to shine on everyone

Me, I ain’t been no mornin’ glory
I have lived another story
I’ve been afraid to get out of my bed
When the daylight rolled around
You’d find me hiding underground
Paralyzed by fear and dread

Why would I wake up
Try to resist the morning
That can only totally
Inevitably be
I want to open my eyes
And give thanks to the dawning
Singing bring it on
I believe I am home
I’m givin’ over
To my place
In the natural order of things

I was talking to my brother
About the things that give us trouble
You know we both get awful blue
The thing I saw we had in common
Was this kind of faithless belonging
Had us wanderin’ ’round
Wonderin’ what we’re here to do
Oh, tryin’ to go this thing alone
Is like tryin’ to eat a mountain
It’s like tryin’ to swallow the sea
It’s like wakin’ in the morning
Not believin’ you belong here
Then you got nothing to give or receive

Hey bring back my faith
It is the root and the structure
To this tree of life
Upon which we all thrive
I see spirit as to the land
As is the left to the right hand
Of the same body, different sides

Why would we make it up
That we don’t belong here
When we can only totally
Inseparably be
I want to open my eyes
And give thanks to the dawning
Singing bring it on
I believe I am home
I’m givin’ over
To my place
In the natural order of things
I’m givin’ over
To my place
In the natural order of things

Your Not Crazy lyrics by Karisha Longaker of MaMuse
There was a fire in your home
The story that has left its wound
Of the lovers who fell down
And broke your heart
Now the crows cackle from above
And all the swords direct their points
And the walls on every side
Surround you
You’re not crazy

Oh, your dreaming mind
Is your alchemist
Equal parts fire and mist
Listen.
There is a message
In your hands
And the only one that can know
Your yes is the one that lives
Inside your chest
All those others are just
Chasing sand

You were born of a wild wind
Here to tear all the burdens down
Start anew with your own hands
Build it up from the very ground
You were born with a strong will
Equally matched by a warm heart,
Creative vision and a clear sight
You knew your work
From the very start
Oh, You’re not crazy
You’re not crazy
You’re not crazy
You’re just sad
You’re not crazy
Oh, I understand

Hey, remember we knew
It was gonna be this way
When we came

We are your family
We are alive and well
Go on
Let us cast our circle around you
We’re here to help you
We’ll pull you through
And the path you choose
Is bound to show you
All you ever need to know
You have the tools
You will be shown it’s true

You were born of a wild wind
Here to tear all the burdens down
Start anew with your own hands
Build it up from the very ground
You were born with a strong will
Equally matched by a warm heart,
Creative vision and a clear sight
You knew your work
From the very start
Oh, You’re not crazy
You’re not crazy
You’re not crazy
You’re just mad
You’re not crazy
Oh, I understand
Hey, remember we knew
It was gonna be
Hey, remember we knew
It was gonna be this way
When we came

I discovered MaMuse while listening to Pandora. I LOVE them! They really are full of joy, even when they are singing about loss. Thanks for sharing their words with us all.
