brain compost

A few truths about caring:
Caring hurts.
Caring is inconvenient.
Caring is–most times–thankless.
Caring changes things for the good.
Caring matters.
Caring is muy importante!

I went to the woods and a wise Leaf Owl stared penetratingly at my core and hooted, “Please care!”

So I was inconvenienced and sad while I picked up a giant stash of uncaring.
(Carrybag brought to me by the river and “WalMart. And thanks human!

Walking home I felt less sad.
Hmmm. Thinking about my woods and her creatures no longer attempting to eat or compost the naughty carelessmess.
I was also carrying this little poem-ishy thing:
Brain compost!

Thank you woods.
Thank you Leaf Owl.
Thank you trash.
Thank you humans visiting the woods.

Thank YOU for reading….but most of all, thank you for caring.

Take sweet care!
all my ❤

my driving questions

Comments 3 Standard

dear ones,

Last week at a glance… in case you are interested to know… I spent a week at the Appalachian State Expressive Art Institute in the Blue Ridge Mountains, learning about creativity and play from some great teachers. Thoughts are bubbling up, so I wanted to share…..

My mind was overflowing with one-hundred-and-one stories: those of my easy-to-love loved ones, and stories of those I want and need to learn to love.

I drove myself up the mountain–a labyrinth-like-road–giggling to myself about the nervy, curvy road bends, and frightening myself with a few what-ifs.

I arrived at the top alone and unknown to join a group of 40+–each human offering a new-to-me-story that somehow now entwines with my own.

I stepped out of my life–up into the stratosphere–to focus on my own story, deepening my experience with and for the sacred work I feel a responsibility to.

Creativity and joy activism–what on Earth do these mean? What is possible for me to create and support and be connected to? What feels impossible, yet necessary? How can I serve with greater urgency, tenderness and love?

After four days carrying these focused questions in my heart and awareness, my body and spirit blown upon by the four directions… the answer?

Mmmm…. I still do not fully know. But whatever I am part of, I intend to remember to PLAY through to finding the answers and solutions our world so deservedly needs.

GROWN-UP PLAY is one of the most important things us grown ups can do for ourselves, for our children and for Mama Earth. Play is made of different energies than the problems we are facing right now… so let’s play, shall we?! When was the last time you played, dear one? If it’s been too long, be gentle with yourself. Perhaps start with a bottle of bubbles–a gateway joy device–an essential tool in the JOYFUeL playkit.

Wishing you love and a LOT of play, too!

human resources

dear ones,

Thinking and feeling today. About the fact there are over 7.4 billion of us humans on earth. I just spent a few minutes watching this world population clock go up and down, and up up up up and then down and up.

It’s fascinating. Think about all of us humans here on earth! People dying. People being born. More people being born, dying.

I do not believe there are too many people on earth. On the contrary.

In the history of earth, there has never been so many of us until this very now, this very second!

What would happen if we could see ourselves as the greatest resource on earth? Not in a self-centered egocentric type of way but in a connected-to-everything-kind of way. What would happen If we could feel our full power and recognize…. REALIZE our full human potential?!

We humans–like an intelligent mound of giant ants–are the greatest possible resource to heal our earth and humanity’s suffering!

It does not feel good to me to deny our presence or to believe that humans are the weakest link in our evolution. Yes! To-date we have been the most destructive. And yet we have also been the most creative.

It is our creativity that will save us from ourselves. Creativity combined with our hearts’ abilities to love deeply and to feel pain will save us from ourselves.

We humans have the greatest potential of all… Yet untapped.

Now is the perfect time for us to EVOLVE and love the heaven and hell out of each other and this place, our home.

(I 💕remembering that the word LOVE is nestled backwards inside evolve, reminding me to look in the mirror and find unconditional love inside myself first, before expecting to see it or project it outside of me. I have work to do.)

I love Y’all!

love is everywhere (photo of tiny heart we found concrete path outside my son’s school)

“The Great Work of our time is to carry out the transition from the current period where humans are a destructive presence on the Earth, to one where the human presence is mutually beneficial to the planet and the entire community of life—a mutually enhancing human/earth relationship. To do this we need to undergo, at both an individual and collective level, a fundamental transformation – a virtual reinvention of what we consider the role of human beings to be. ” ~Thomas Berry

mountain of hope

Comment 1 Standard

mlk-hope-beckyjaine2016With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope … —Martin Luther King, Jr.

dear hearts,

On this Dr. Martin Luther King’s day I have a gift for anyone who would like to receive it. I thought about things I have made in the last year and perhaps this creation could somehow be in service towards Dr. King’s vision for all of us truly living together as brothers and sisters.
If you are perplexed, exhausted or stressed out by the inequity and injustice that our world’s current monetary system is propagating, perhaps you would enjoy hearing from the thought leaders lovingly curated and shared in this collection.
Last year I created a web site intending to deepen our relationship with our gifts –energy, time, attention, things and money– and our connection to our world. This series offers material from my 7-year-long investigation into my gifts and expression of them, and ultimately offers many of the thought leaders that contributed to healing my own painful relationship with money. I originally created this site as a gift for a beautiful group of friends all over our world, who believe–as I do–those of us alive right now are part of writing our Earth’s New Story.
It’s called the Gift Ecology Circle and offers a go-at-your-own-pace curriculum of essays, interviews, videos and journaling/homework assignments intending an understanding of the spectrum of Gift Economy or Ecology: Ideas and muse to get us thinking more imaginatively about our economy and the way we use our personal human currency (aka energy), and using money and energy as an expression of connection and love, and not transaction.
If–as you are experiencing the content–you would like to share your thoughts or ideas with me, I’d love to hear them! If there are a few of us, we can find a way for private sharing to connect us.
Thank you for being alive at this most energized time in human history. I<3 you.
Happy Birthday to one of my greatest teachers, Dr. King.
with all my heart,
Becky
